# Candidate document generation

If you **open DocMerge from a candidate record** you will most likely be presented with the following:

Clicking **Continue with Candidate Only** will present the template selection option and automatically select the first template.

If you change your mind and **want to select a job or placement instead** simply make a selection from the drop-down options. Then press the Apply button that appears.

If you select either a job or placement then the available templates and header information will change.

Clicking any of the candidate, job or placement in the header will reset the template. This will allow you to change the entities for template generation.
